Trans Care BC: Gender Affirming Relational Practice
2024
Gender Affirming Relational Practice (GARP) is four-module course outlining ways care providers can combine clinical practice, relational practice, and gender-affirming care principles to improve access and suitability of care for trans, Two-Spirit, and non-binary (TTNB) clients. This program provided tools for building a TTNB inclusive relational practice within various areas of medicine and paramedicine, to be provided to clinicians by the BC Health Authority.

GARP integrates interviews from a diverse cohort of TTNB practitioners and clients to support inclusivity in learning.

My role in this project:

  • Working with TCBC and Hot Neon team members to write course content with the appropriate tone for a clinical audience
  • Selecting segments of video interviews with SMEs and community members for inclusion in the course to ensure the best possible value to the learner.
  • Co-created illustrations with a diverse team, ensuring imagery was visually cohesive and appropriately reflected the demographics of TCBC’s clientele.
  • Assembled the course in Rise, bringing together all elements into a polished final product
